This week during class we watched a video focusing on the importance of the supreme court and how its power is controlled and validated by its actions and decisions on cases it receives. Throughout history we the people have seen the courts uphold its grandeur and other times when there was more left to be desired such as in Dred V. Scott case in which as was stated in the video the supreme court “shot itself” in a way by the decision and made its validity in the people’s eyes valued far less.
The video also gave insight into the process and protocols behind being a justice and the immense responsibility that each Justice must make sure that the law is carried out with Justice and validity. These insights gave me a new appreciation for how difficult the job of being a supreme court justice as well as a new respect for the supreme court itself.
