Recently in an article written by the New York Times by Mike Isaac, the article discusses Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg’s plans for the future of Facebook. In the piece, Mr. Zuckerberg talks about how he is displeased with the level of security and privacy within the current Facebook and his plan to remedy that issue. Mr. Zuckerberg talked about how in the future he wishes to focus on creating an end to end encryption within Facebook as well as Messenger and WhatsApp by extension.
This he says will allow for more secure communications with users creating and a more closed communicating space instead of the current more open setup, creating a more personal user to user interactions and less of a public broad stream focus. Facebook has always been the faucet for rumors regarding privacy and data tracking of its users, while I am not confident that these changes will fix all of the issues that Facebook presents society I do hope that this will be a turning point for Facebook and eventually social media as a whole.
